THE SECRET LIFE OF CATS / الحياة السرية للقطط

EVERYTHING YOUR CAT WOULD WANT YOU TO KNOW
DO YOU KNOW what makes your cat tick – what motivates it to behave as it does?
With behaviours developed and honed over millions of years to produce a highly skilled hunter and adaptable survivor, how has the cat managed to slip into the role of man’s top companion without actually compromising any of its instincts?
What goes on beneath that beautiful exterior – would understanding the secret life of the cat enable us to make sure it is happy living alongside us?
Actually, we put a great deal of pressure on our pet cats in our modern lives, trying to keep a largely asocial animal with others of its kind, often without access to outside or with it having any understanding of its motivations.
We live in cities where the density of cats must cause them great stress and we expect them to take on our human frailties of needing to be needed.
We are breeding cats which have inherited problems, are failing to socialize them in early life and expect them to live with however many other cats we decide we want to have around. Our attitudes and demands are a real challenge to the adaptability of the cat and it is a credit to its flexibility that so few problems do occur and most cats and people live very contentedly together.
This book is a combination of two of my favorite books – Cat Whisperer and What Cats Want.

THE DOG ENCYCLOPEDIA / موسوعة الكلاب

Evolution of the dog
There are an estimated 500 million domestic dogs worldwide, and all of them are related.
At the base of their evolutionary tree stands the gray wolf, from which every type and breed of dog has descended.
As geneticists have discovered, in terms of DNA, the difference between wolf and dog is infinitesimal.
While natural selection has produced some of the changes that make one type of dog different from another, the effect of human influence has been far greater.
It could be said that of the hundreds of modern dogs known today, all of them are man-made.

THE CAT ENCYCLOPEDIA / موسوعة القطط

Cat species around the world
Elegant, powerful, and elusive, wildcats can be large and may roar like a lion, or small and purr like a domestic cat.
They are superb hunters, adapted to be as successful living in a dry sandy desert as they are in a dense tropical forest.
Cats are predatory hunters belonging to the order Carnivora.

Animal Reproduction and Physiology / التكاثر الحيواني وعلم وظائف الأعضاء

The intestine and the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) are essential components of whole body immune defense, protecting the body from foreign antigens and pathogens, while allowing tolerance to commensal bacteria and dietary antigens.
The requirement for protein to support the immune system is well established.
Less is known regarding the immune modifying properties of individual amino acids, particularly on the GALT.

BOVINE ANATOMY – An Illustrated Text – First Edition / تشريح الأبقار – نص مصور – الطبعة الأولى

This combination of a topographic color atlas and concise textbook of Bovine Anatomy is the third volume of a series on the anatomy of domestic mammals.
The first edition of the Atlas and Textbook of the Anatomy of the Dog appeared 20 years ago. It was followed years ago by the second volume, the Anatomy of the Horse. In several German and foreign language editions, they aroused world-wide interest.

Introduction to Fungi – Third Edition / مقدمة عن الفطريات – الطبعة الثالثة

About 80 000 to 120 000 species of fungi have been described to date, although the total number of species is estimated at around 1.5 million (Hawksworth, 2001; Kirk et al., 2001).
This would render fungi one of the least-explored biodiversity resources on our planet.
It is notoriously difficult to delimit fungi as a group against other eukaryotes, and debates over the inclusion or exclusion of certain groups have been going on for well over a century.

Improvement of village chicken production in a mixed (chicken-ram) farming system in Burkina Faso / تحسين إنتاج الدجاج القروي في نظام الزراعة المختلطة (كبش الدجاج) في بوركينا فاسو

Improvement of village chicken production: Strategic role of livestock in Sahelian traditional livelihood systems
The role of livestock in developing countries in general and in Sahelian regions, in particular, is already well reviewed by many authors (Ayantunde, 1998; Nianogo and Somda, 1999; Guèye, 2000; Slingerland, 2000). In Sahelian countries animal production is after crop production, the second activity of the population. The level of industrialisation is low and employment in the modern sector (public services and private business) is practically negligible (Slingerland, 2000). About 65 to 80% of the human population live in rural areas and their life is strongly linked to crop and livestock production.
