الحوسبة السحابية: مفهومها وتطبيقاتها في مجال المكتبات ومراكز المعلومات

With the development of technologies available through the web, with the advent of web 2.0 and web 3.0, and the steady increase in internet speeds available to users, many organizations tended to make their applications available for use through the internet in what is known today as the “computing cloud.”

Where this technology provides its users with many additional advantages, including saving expenses and making information services available to a larger segment of beneficiaries, it also provides the beneficiary and information institutions with the ability to store, process, transfer, and share information from anywhere and at any time without the obligation to use a personal computer. These procedures (storage, processing, transmission, and sharing) are performed on external servers available on the Internet cloud, ensuring the security of this information and preserving it from hackers or viruses.

Libraries and information centers were not immune to the use of these technologies, so many of them tended to participate in computing projects that were made available through some institutions that provide services to libraries, such as the Dura Cloud project.

This study deals with the concept of cloud computing, its objectives and components, as well as a number of its applications in the field of libraries and information centers, the statements of global information institutions that provide cloud computing services, and the nature of the services provided by these institutions.
